Land Of Mine (15)

Martin Pieter Zandvliet | 2015| Denmark | Germany | 99’

This is both a moving anti-war essay and a gripping thriller that accumulates considerable power. It’s Denmark, 1945, after the defeat of Germany. The tough veteran Sergeant Carl Rasmussen is instructed to defuse and remove 2.2 million mines along the Danish west coast to make the beaches safe. He receives a group of teenage Germans prisoners of war to carry out the task, who are promised their release and return to Germany when the job is done. An honorable, harrowing and stirring experience.
