Pio comes from a small Romani community in Calabria, Southern Italy, but easily moves between the various factions in the region, from the local Italians, to African refugees and his fellow Romani.  At 14 he is desperate to be treated like a man and shadows his older brother, learning about life on the streets. When his brother disappears, he’s faced with an impossible situation and the reality of what growing up might really mean.
